The Erie Otters dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to the Owen Sound Attack Saturday at the Erie Insurance Arena on Hockey Fights Cancer Night.
Owen Sound jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Erie answered with goals from Michael D’Alessio and Andrew Kuzma to pull within one. The teams traded goals throughout a high-scoring first two periods, with Ulysses Lombardi and Cal Hughes also finding the net as the game went to the third period tied 4-4.
After a scoreless third and overtime, the game moved to a lengthy nine-round shootout. Jake Crawford scored the lone goal of the skills competition to give the Attack the win. Erie outshot Owen Sound 37-23 in the loss.
The Otters wrap up the home-and-home series Sunday on Faith and Family Night.
