Channel 98.9 Corry’s Radio Alternative is the media partner for Viking Fest. Radio personality Nigel Metal will be on hand with chances to win a 6-person VIP Car Pass to the African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton, Ohio.

Festival organizer WhiteRaven, owner of WhiteRaven Gifts & Specialties, says the Viking Festival is more than just an event—it’s a chance to step into a different time and community.

“The Erie County Viking Festival will include a traveling Bard, who will be performing in the Hall of Shields on Friday and Saturday, as well as a pair of traveling minstrels strolling through the market square,” said WhiteRaven. “In addition, we’ll have a blacksmith shop offering classes throughout the weekend, plus vendors and so much more!”

The festival will run:

  • Friday, July 11 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by the Living Fire: Burning of the Ancestral Ship from 9–11 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 12 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the Burning of Intentions ceremony from 9–11 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 13 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests can explore a Viking encampment, browse handcrafted goods, take part in interactive demonstrations, and enjoy old-world music throughout the grounds.

“We welcome all walks of life to come out and immerse themselves in the culture,” WhiteRaven said. “This is an all-inclusive event—many compare it to a Renaissance Faire, but with a Viking twist. It’s fun, a bit of fantasy, but also rooted in heritage and education.”

WhiteRaven also emphasized the importance of community in the Viking tradition and in today’s world.

“There are many misconceptions about Viking culture. One of the true values we want to honor is community—our ancestors lived in close-knit villages, and that’s how we approach this event. Many of us treat each other like family, and that’s the feeling we want to share with visitors.”
