MEADVILLE — A Union City woman is facing multiple charges after Pennsylvania State Police say she was linked to a series of commercial burglaries in the Meadville area.
According to state police, Vanessa Todia, 47, was arrested after troopers responded around 2:10 a.m. July 28 to a report of an attempted break-in at Dubrook Concrete on Liberty Street Extension in West Mead Township. Employees reported that an unknown person had tried to enter the business and fled when confronted.
Police said the suspect left behind several items, including a pair of work boots, a bank card and an iPad. Troopers later located and identified the suspect as Todia. When officers attempted to take her into custody, police allege she resisted both verbally and physically, striking troopers with a grocery bag and kicking them before she was subdued and taken to the Crawford County Jail.
State police said additional businesses reported burglaries the following morning, and investigators determined Todia was the suspected actor in those incidents as well. The investigation remains ongoing.
The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
