CORRY — The Mead Park Association will celebrate the 77th anniversary of the gift of Mead Park to the citizens of Corry during Glenn Mead Day on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The annual community celebration offers a full day of family-friendly activities throughout the park while recognizing the legacy of Glenn Mead and his gift to the community.
The day begins with a worship service at 9:30 a.m. at the Stennett Pavilion. Activities officially get underway at 11 a.m., when visitors can enjoy bingo, food vendors, and numerous attractions across the park.
The Corry Ministerial Association will offer a variety of food, while additional vendors will serve cotton candy, kettle corn, ice cream treats, and other refreshments.
Children are invited to bring their fishing poles for the youth fishing event, while families can also enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, a petting zoo, and a dedicated kids’ fun zone.
Returning favorites include the annual Duck Races at 3 p.m., followed by a fun raffle at 3:30 p.m. Bingo will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a pie auction held during a break in the games. The Corry Hospital Auxiliary will also conduct its annual pie auction at 1 p.m.
Automotive enthusiasts can visit the Annual Street Machines Car Show, with music provided by a live DJ throughout the afternoon.
The Corry Historical Society Museum will be open from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and the Friends of Mead Park will have an information and membership table available during the event.
Organizers say Glenn Mead Day is an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy one of Corry’s most treasured parks while celebrating the generosity that made it possible for generations to enjoy.
