Union City Earns Podium Finishes, Corry Claims Individual Title at STWOA Holiday Classic

Several area wrestlers turned in strong performances at the 2025 STWOA Holiday Classic, held at Jamestown Community College, with Corry and Union City both represented across multiple weight classes in the large multi-school tournament.

Corry was led by a championship performance from Lamech Albers at 175 pounds. Albers earned the title with a series of falls, including a pin of Williamson’s Steven Olson in the finals. Corry also had multiple finalists, as Carson Braswell finished second at 150 pounds after advancing to the title bout, and Owen Nickerson placed second at heavyweight following a narrow loss in the finals.

Several Corry wrestlers reached the podium. Steven Willis placed fourth at 132 pounds, Marcus Meredith took fifth at 144, Landon Nickerson finished fifth at 215, and Roman Kafferlin placed seventh at 126. Cooper Hodak also earned a seventh-place finish at 157. Overall, Corry showed depth throughout the lineup, with multiple wrestlers advancing deep into the consolation rounds.

Union City was highlighted by a third-place finish from Van Ward at 110 pounds. Ward reached the semifinals before rebounding with two wins to secure a spot on the podium. Joshua Mitcham also placed seventh at 138 pounds, contributing points for the Bears.

Union City had several wrestlers advance through early rounds and consolation brackets, including Brooks Mitcham, David Dominguez-Ashton, Kane Gregor, Zakkary Tomcho, and Hunter Michael, gaining valuable experience against a deep field of competitors from Pennsylvania and New York.
