The Winter Sports season is officially here and the Union City Lady Bears were back on the basketball court to begin their season on Friday night as they traveled to Mercer High School to take on the Grove City Lady Eagles in the first round of the Dave Cook Tip-Off Tournament.
The Eagles would outscore the Bears in the first quarter 15-6 and would never look back, as they would roll to a 52-18 win to advance to the championship game while the Lady Bears were sent to the consolation game against Greenville.

The Lady Bears were back on the court on Saturday night in the consolation game of the Tournament.
The Trojans would get out to a early lead, taking a 13-4 advantage after the first quarter. The Lady Bears would come back however, to pull back within three to trail 20-17 at the half. The Bears would trail by two entering the fourth quarter, later taking a one point lead, the Trojans would hold on to win the game 39-34.
The Lady Bears will be back in action on Thursday night as they travel to Seneca High School to take on the Bobcats.
