ELDRED TWP. — A Corry man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Warren County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers said the crash occurred at approximately 1:16 a.m. July 4 at the intersection of Buells Corners Road and Oil Creek Road in Eldred Township.
Police said 20-year-old Hayden J. Tomcho of Corry was driving a 2013 Honda Accord eastbound on Buells Corners Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle continued through the intersection, struck an embankment and came to rest.
Tomcho was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and became trapped inside the vehicle. He was extricated by emergency responders and flown to UPMC Hamot with suspected serious injuries. Airbags deployed during the crash.
In an earlier Warren County crash, an 18-year-old Union City woman was injured in a two-vehicle collision June 20 at the intersection of Route 426 and Old Route 77 in Spring Creek Township.
According to state police, 24-year-old Annelise C. Wiesner of Philadelphia was driving a Ford Fusion westbound on Old Route 77 when she entered the intersection with Route 426 after failing to yield while attempting a left turn. Her vehicle was struck by a southbound Ford F-350 driven by 20-year-old William A. McConnell of Cranesville.
The impact pushed the pickup truck into a utility pole, a parked vehicle and a tree before it came to rest. Juliana J. Barnes, 18, of Union City, who was riding in the pickup, was transported by EmergyCare to Titusville Hospital with injuries of unknown severity. Neither driver was injured.
State police cited Wiesner for failing to stop at the stop sign and McConnell for driving at an unsafe speed. Spring Creek Township personnel and EmergyCare assisted at the scene.
State police also reported a vehicle struck a bear on Jackson Run Road in Sugar Grove Township. No one in the vehicle was injured.
