CORRY — Erie County residents will have an opportunity Tuesday evening to provide input on housing needs and preferences as the county develops a Comprehensive Housing Strategy.
The first of four community housing open houses will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Corry Community Center, 15 S. First Ave. The Erie County Planning Department is seeking input from residents about housing challenges they are experiencing, their housing preferences and housing-related efforts taking place throughout the county.
The Corry meeting will use an open-house format rather than a formal presentation. Interactive activities will be facilitated by the county’s consulting group, TPMA, allowing residents to provide feedback as part of the housing planning process.
The county will also hold similar sessions Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Elk Valley Elementary School Library in Lake City and Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Edinboro Borough Hall. A fourth meeting serving the City of Erie is planned for late August or early September in partnership with the city, with additional details to be announced.
The first three meetings will follow the same format and cover the same material, allowing residents to attend whichever location is most convenient. The City of Erie session will include an abbreviated version of the earlier meetings along with information related to the city’s separate but related Housing Strategy.
RSVPs are not required, although residents may register in advance to help organizers plan for attendance. Light refreshments will be available.
The county’s housing strategy project was financed in part through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
