The Erie County Courthouse will be illuminated in teal on Monday, May 19, in recognition of Tourette Syndrome Awareness and to show support for individuals and families affected by Tourette Syndrome and other tic disorders.
County officials said the lighting is part of a broader effort to raise awareness and encourage understanding of Tourette Syndrome, a neurological disorder that involves involuntary physical and vocal tics.
According to the Tourette Association of America, Tourette Syndrome is one of several childhood-onset tic disorders characterized by repetitive movements and vocalizations.
Erie County Executive Christina Vogel said the courthouse lighting serves as a visible sign of support for those living with tic disorders throughout Pennsylvania and across the country.
The awareness effort is being held in partnership with the PA Tourette Syndrome Alliance. For more information about Tourette Syndrome and available resources, visit the organization’s website.
