Pennsylvania State Police in Erie are reminding motorists about the dangers of impaired driving ahead of a planned DUI enforcement effort later this month.
According to a public information release, state police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Erie County during the weekend of May 22 through May 24, 2026.
Police said the enforcement effort is intended to deter impaired driving involving alcohol, illegal drugs, and prescription medications that may affect a driver’s ability to safely operate a vehicle.
Troopers are encouraging drivers who plan to consume alcohol to designate a sober driver and avoid driving while impaired. Officials noted that impaired driving continues to contribute to fatal crashes each year.
