Lady Bears Take Down Devils on Senior Night

The Union City Lady Bears were back on the softball field on Friday night as they played host to the Sharpsville Lady Blue Devils on Senior Night under the lights at the Little League field.

The Lady Bears would strike early, scoring four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead.

After a scoreless second inning, the Blue Devils would score three runs in the top of the third to make the score 4-3.

The Lady Bears would then score two more runs in the bottom half of the third to take a 6-3 lead, but the Lady Devils would come back again in the fourth, scoring two runs to bring the deficit back down to one as the Lady Bears would lead 6-5.

The Bears would extend their lead again in the bottom half of the fourth as Maddie Swan would hit a two-run home run, her fourth of the season, as the Bears would take a 9-5 lead.

After the Bears would add another run in the sixth to take a 10-5 lead, the Lady Devils would score two runs in the top of the seventh. It wouldn’t be enough however as the Lady Bears would take down the Devils 10-7. The win improves the Bears to 10-5 on the season while the Devils fall to 6-10.

The Bears will return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Mercyhurst Prep to take on the Lady Lakers in a region game.
