Maddie Swan Hits Grand Slam as Lady Bears Shutout Knights

The Union City Lady Bears softball team was back in action on Thursday afternoon as they traveled to Eisenhower to take on the Lady Knights in another region game.

It was all Union City right from the start as they would score four runs in the first inning and would never look back as they would take down the Knights 13-0.

The highlight of the game would come in the third inning as Maddie Swan would hit a grand slam to blow the game wide open as the Lady Bears would dominate.

The win improves the Lady Bears to 9-5 (5-2) on the season while the Knights fall to 3-12 (1-7).

Earlier in the week Union City fell to Seneca 15-7 on Tuesday. Stats for that game were not provided by press time.

The Lady Bears will return to action on Friday night as they host Sharpsville in a non-region game on Senior Night.
