Several churches and community organizations across the area are preparing special events to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend, offering everything from breakfast and brunch gatherings to an evening concert.
In Spartansburg, the Spartansburg Community Foundation will host a Mother’s Day Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, May 10, at the Spartansburg Fire Hall.
The breakfast will feature a waffle and pancake bar with assorted toppings, along with ham, sausage links, danishes, juice and coffee. Organizers say mothers will eat free with the purchase of a paying meal. The cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children ages 5 to 12, while children under 4 eat free. Both dine-in and takeout options will be available.
Meanwhile, First Presbyterian Church of Corry is planning a free Mother’s Day brunch open to the public on Sunday, May 10, at the church located at 607 W. Smith Street.
The event is being organized by the church’s Christian Education Committee and will feature cafeteria-style service. Seating times are available at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Reservations are required by May 6 and can be made by calling 814-964-4171 or 814-964-0378. Organizers ask guests to specify the number attending and their preferred seating time when reserving.
Later that evening, Corry Church of the Nazarene will welcome special musical guests Timothy & Hosanna Noble for a free Mother’s Day concert beginning at 6 p.m.
The concert will take place at the church, located at 246 Marion Street in Corry. Organizers describe the evening as a time of music, fellowship and encouragement, and are encouraging families to bring their mothers for the special event. Admission is free, although a love offering will be received.
Community organizers say the events are intended to provide families with opportunities to celebrate and honor mothers throughout the holiday weekend.
