According to the Corry Fire Department, crews responded to an ice rescue at Mead Park around 9:30 a.m. after two minors fell through the ice approximately 30 feet from shore.
The department reported that bystanders Amanda Swank and Stephanie Donoghue saw the children fall in and immediately called 911. Another passerby, Zack Upperman, reportedly entered the pond with a tow strap in an attempt to assist before emergency crews arrived.
Firefighters continued rescue efforts using department equipment and were able to bring everyone safely to shore. The children were transported for medical evaluation.
The department thanked those who assisted and reminded residents to stay off area ice, noting that conditions are thinning and unsafe.
