The Erie Otters opened a two-game Michigan road trip Friday night with a 4–1 loss to the Saginaw Spirit at the Dow Event Center, extending their skid to three games.
Saginaw struck twice in the first period, with Drew Roscoe opening the scoring before Egor Barabanov added a power-play goal. Erie answered late in the frame as Tyler Cooper scored on the man advantage to cut the deficit to 2–1.
The Spirit regained momentum in the second when Brody Pepoy finished a rush to make it 3–1, then sealed the game early in the third on a goal by Bode Stewart. Saginaw goaltender Stepan Shurygin was sharp, stopping 25 of 26 shots as the Spirit snapped a five-game losing streak.
Erie wraps up its three-in-three Saturday night in Flint against the Firebirds.
