The Union City Area High School swim team hosted General McLane on Thursday, Jan. 8, in a dual meet at Union City High School.
General McLane won the girls meet 125–55 and the boys meet 128–46.
For Union City, several swimmers recorded notable finishes. On the girls side, Breanna Hertel placed first in the 100-yard freestyle, while Allison Yard finished first in the 200-yard individual medley. Union City also picked up points in the 100-yard butterfly with a second-place finish by Runa Caldwell.
In boys competition, Luke Himrod earned a win in the 100-yard freestyle, and Patrick Hayes placed first in the 500-yard freestyle. The Bears also earned points in relay events, including the boys 200-yard freestyle relay featuring Luke Himrod, Logan Shilling, Chase Whitmeyer and Brady Whitmeyer.
Union City swimmers also competed in diving events, with athletes from both teams participating in the one-meter diving competition.
