PennDOT reminds motorists that all driver license and photo centers across Pennsylvania, including the full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Thursday, January 1st, in observance of the New Year’s holiday.
Despite the closure, many driver and vehicle services remain available online around the clock. These include license, photo ID, and vehicle registration renewals, address changes, duplicate IDs, driver history services, restoration letters, REAL ID pre-verification, and scheduling driver exams. There are no additional fees for using PennDOT’s online services.
PennDOT also encourages travelers to plan ahead, especially those flying domestically. A REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification, such as a passport, is now required to board domestic flights. Information and a REAL ID decision tool are available at pa.gov slash REALID.
Motorists can check road conditions statewide by visiting 511PA dot com, using the 511PA mobile app, calling 5-1-1, or following regional alerts on X.
