The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is inviting the public to review plans for proposed improvements along more than one mile of the Route 19 (Peach Street) corridor in Summit Township, Erie County.

The project covers Route 19 from the intersection with Dorn Road to the intersection with Oliver Road (Route 4008) and is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving safety in the busy commercial area.

Planned work includes widening Route 19 between Robison Road and Dorn Road by adding a center turn lane to match the lane configuration south of Dorn Road, which was completed in 2015. At the Robison Road intersection, PennDOT proposes creating a right-turn lane for eastbound traffic turning onto Route 19 to improve traffic flow.

Additional work will involve milling and paving Route 19 from Robison Road to Oliver Road, and replacing the existing culvert near 8270 Peach Plaza.

No detours are anticipated during construction. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open, although short-term driveway closures for some businesses are expected. Access to those businesses will be maintained through temporary or alternative driveways.

Construction is scheduled to take place from spring 2027 through spring 2028.
