Local Teams Compete at Rocket Invitational

The annual Rocket Invitational cross country meet brought together dozens of schools Saturday in Titusville, with area teams Union City, Corry, Fort LeBoeuf, Maplewood, Seneca, Titusville, and Clymer-Sherman-Panama all competing against some of the region’s strongest programs.

On the girls’ side, Mercer edged out Clarion-Limestone for the team title, while Grove City placed third. Among local area schools, Fort LeBoeuf turned in a strong performance with 153 points to finish sixth overall, led by freshman Lexi Przybycien, who placed 14th in 20:22, and sophomore Maya Banta, who crossed 18th in 20:50. Clymer-Sherman-Panama placed ninth with 260 points, paced by Grace Cooke (16th, 20:28) and seventh grader Savannah Whitney (21st, 21:01). Seneca followed in 11th, led by senior Brooke Majewski (40th, 22:04). Corry rounded out the local girls’ finishers in 17th place, highlighted by senior Shay Linden’s 27th-place run in 21:24. Titusville, Union City, and Maplewood all fielded incomplete teams.

In the boys’ race, Grove City dominated with just 70 points, while Meadville and General McLane rounded out the top three. Among locals, Fort LeBoeuf placed ninth overall with 288 points, highlighted by a standout victory from senior Blake Glass, who won the individual title in 15:44. Clymer-Sherman-Panama finished eighth (254 points) behind a balanced team effort led by senior Finn Fadale (24th, 17:26). Union City placed 10th with Josh Mitcham running to seventh place in 16:28. Corry was 13th, paced by Ethan Behm (31st, 17:35) and Bryce Chelton (34th, 17:41). Titusville finished 19th, with Grayson Steinbuhler cracking the top 25 in 17:26, while Maplewood came in 20th, led by Austin Szympruch (33rd, 17:38). Seneca finished 22nd, with junior Anthony Galkowski placing 10th in 16:43 for one of the best local showings.
