Project to Replace the Bridge on Kane Road in Pittsfield Township

A $2 million project to replace the bridge that carries Kane Road (Route 3014) over Brokenstraw Creek in Pittsfield Township, Warren County is scheduled to start next week.

The bridge is located on Kane Road between the intersection with Old Garland Road and the intersection with Route 27.

The existing 92-foot steel I-beam bridge was built in 1958. The bridge was closed to traffic in April 2023 after an inspection uncovered deficiencies with the wooden deck. Prior to being closed, it was used by approximately 400 vehicles a day.

The project will include demolition of the existing bridge starting on August 18, 2025.

Construction a new bridge is scheduled to take place in 2026. Work will also include minor paving of each side of the bridge, as well as updates to drainage and guide rail.

The new concrete bridge will be 110 feet long and have two 11-foot lanes. It is expected to open by October 2026.

The current detour will remain in place and is posted using Cole Hill Road (Route 3013), Old Garland Road (Route 3014), Davey Hill Road (Route 3007), Route 27, and Kane Road (Route 3014).

The intersection of Kane Road and Old Garland Road will be closed for one month as well in 2026. An updated detour will be posted at that time.

The contractor is Thomas Construction Inc. of Grove City, PA. The contract cost is $2,082,376.16, which is to be paid with entirely with federal funds.
