Planning for the Union City Homecoming festivities this weekend is reportedly going well.
“The Alumni Committee has worked diligently to make this a great Homecoming with a few extras added this year,” said Union City Alumni Association President Susan Ottaway. “Come out and enjoy!”
Union City will host Saegertown in the Bears’ 2024 Homecoming game on Friday at Bears Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime. Live video coverage of the game can be found on the DeejExperience.com.

The Homecoming game will be preceded by the Union City Wall of Achievement ceremony, inducting Glenn McKinney III, Kyle Blakeslee, and Jerry VanZandt, at 4:30 PM.
The Homecoming Parade starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday September 21, rain or shine. The parade route follows West High Street from Second Avenue and south on Main Street to Union City Fire Hall. The announcer and judges will be seated near the Family Support Center. All floats must enter the lineup from Third Avenue and head to St. Teresa’s parking lot. All other units should stop at the Baptist church on Second Avenue to find out which street to line up on. All floats must be at St. Teresa’s by 9 a.m. for judging.
For those who have registered, a tour of the High School will be conducted by Dan Keefer, Union City High School principal, on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the school auditorium. This will consist of a brief slide show presentation and a walking tour.
The Homecoming Semi-Formal Dance is Saturday evening at Union City High School.
Saturday’s Homecoming Alumni Banquet is being held at Union City Elementary School. The doors open at 5:00 PM and dinner is at 6:00 PM.
