The Union City Lady Bears softball team was back in action on Tuesday afternoon, taking on the Girard Yellowjackets, hoping to end their two-game losing streak. Girard would strike first with two outs in the top of the first, as Rachel Balko would reach on a walk, Camryn Kilpatrick would follow that up with a single, and Rory Lawrence would hit a two-run RBI double to give the Yellowjackets an early 2-0 lead. The Lady Bears would strike back in the bottom half of the first, as seven would come to the plate, and the Bears would take the lead, scoring three runs. The Bears would follow that up by scoring seven more in the second inning, while batting around. The Lady Bears would continue their dominance throughout the game, going on to defeat the Yellowjackets 17-2 in four innings, improving to 4-2 (2-2) on the season, while Girard falls to 0-3 (0-3). Following a day off, the Lady Bears will be back in action Thursday at Fairview.
