HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania residents who need help paying their home heating bills can now apply for assistance through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, commonly known as LIHEAP.

The federally funded program provides cash grants to help eligible individuals and families pay heating expenses. Grants range from $200 to $1,000, with households eligible for one cash grant per heating season.

LIHEAP also offers crisis assistance for residents facing heating emergencies, including broken heating equipment, a lack of fuel or termination of utility service. Crisis grants range from $25 to $1,000. Households may qualify for more than one crisis grant if they experience multiple emergencies during the season.

Income eligibility is based on household size. The maximum annual income is $23,940 for an individual and $49,500 for a family of four. An additional $8,520 is allowed for each additional household member.
