The Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department will receive $40,000 in state funding to purchase a new cardiac monitor, according to an announcement from state Sen. Michele Brooks.
The funding is part of a $320,000 allocation for projects across Crawford County announced by Brooks on October 29.
The new cardiac monitoring equipment will allow the Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department to expand its emergency medical response capabilities from basic life support to advanced life support.
Brooks said the funding will help provide local first responders with resources needed to protect their communities, particularly when responding to cardiac emergencies.
Other Crawford County projects receiving funding include $60,000 for a gymnasium ceiling renovation at the Meadville Family YMCA, $75,000 for construction and equipment at the North Shenango Community Center, $35,000 for CPR equipment for Meadville Area EMS, $75,000 for construction and equipment at the Meadville Area Recreation Complex, and $35,000 for road maintenance and equipment in Hayfield Township.
