SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO — The Erie Otters turned in a dominant performance Saturday, shutting out the Soo Greyhounds 7-0 to earn a split in their season series. Erie carried momentum from Friday’s win over Sarnia into its furthest road trip of the season, scoring five times in the opening period.

Evan Headrick scored twice in the first period, opening the scoring on the power play at 17:24 before adding another at 15:48. Kayden Edwards, Liam Beamish and Luka Arkko also scored as Erie built a 5-0 lead after 20 minutes. Ty Henry and McLean Agrette assisted on Beamish’s goal.

After a scoreless second period, Arkko scored his second of the night just 21 seconds into the third. Lucas Ambrosio added the final goal at 16:23 with a long-range slapshot to make it 7-0.

Goaltender Liam Karbowski stopped all 32 shots he faced to record his first Ontario Hockey League shutout. The Greyhounds held a 32-28 advantage in shots on goal, but could not get a puck past Karbowski.
