ERIE — A 53-year-old Sugar Grove man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on 11 counts related to the receipt, distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material.

William Kenneth Young was named as the sole defendant in the indictment announced Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

According to the indictment, Young received and attempted to receive material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor between August and October 2025. Prosecutors also allege he distributed or attempted to distribute such material in November and December 2025, and in January, March and July 2026.

The indictment further alleges Young possessed and accessed material with the intent to view it in July 2026.

If convicted on the receipt and distribution charges, Young faces potential prison sentences of five to 40 years, along with fines of up to $250,000. The possession charge carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Any sentence would depend on the circumstances of the offenses and the defendant’s criminal history.

The investigation involved Homeland Security Investigations, the Conewango Township Police Department and the Warren County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian A. Trabold is prosecuting the case.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative targeting child sexual exploitation and abuse.
