UNION CITY — Coaching assignments for the upcoming winter sports season are in place following action by the Union City Area School Board during its October 8 meeting. Directors approved personnel for boys and girls basketball, wrestling, swimming and cheerleading, including head coaches, assistants, junior high coaches and volunteers.
Ryan Steele will lead the boys basketball program, with Joshua G. Blakeslee, Jacques “JT” Taylor and Zachary Walker serving as varsity assistant coaches. Jessica Reynolds was approved as junior high head coach, while Elijah Troyer will coach the seventh- and eighth-grade team. Tiffany Fellows and Kristopher Fox were listed as volunteer coaches.
Timothy Mitcham will serve as head coach for wrestling, assisted by William Burgess and Clay Thomas. Cain Greeley was approved as the junior high No. 1 coach, with John Mukina serving as junior high No. 2 coach. Judah Gardner and Timothy Ward will assist the program as volunteers.
Matthew Moon will head the girls basketball team. Kristen Ahl and Nicholas Miller were approved as assistant coaches, while Kamryn Gates-Bowersox, John Murphy and Brooke Van Tassel will serve as volunteers.
For swimming, Elizabeth Hayes will return as head coach, joined by assistant coach Alexander Bowes. Dawn Andrews, Kimberly DeSimone and Maureen Williams were approved as volunteer coaches.
The board also approved the winter cheerleading staff. Mariah Cummings will serve as wrestling cheer adviser, Haley Wright as basketball cheer adviser and Samantha Logsdon as junior high cheer adviser. Dana Ward was approved as a volunteer.
