ERIE — The Erie County Department of Health unveiled a new community health kiosk Thursday as part of an effort to expand access to overdose prevention, safety and harm-reduction supplies.

The kiosk, located outside the Erie County Department of Health at 606 W. 2nd St., operates 24 hours a day and provides supplies including Narcan, first aid kits, hygiene kits and other health and safety products.

The kiosk also includes a publicly accessible secure needle disposal container, providing a location for individuals to safely dispose of used needles and other sharps.

The department said the kiosk is intended to reduce barriers to accessing supplies, including cost, limited business hours and transportation. The initiative is supported through the Erie County Opioid Settlement Fund.

According to the Erie County Department of Health, 44 people in Erie County died from overdoses in 2025. Community partners have also reported finding needles and other sharps in or near local parks, particularly in the Bayfront and Little Italy neighborhoods.

Users enter their ZIP code before receiving supplies, allowing the department to track approximate usage and identify areas of need.

Erin Mrenak, director of public health, said the kiosk provides a way for people to access harm-reduction supplies in a convenient and discreet manner.

The kiosk is located outside the Erie County Department of Health at 606 W. 2nd St. in Erie and is available around the clock.
