Union City Girls Golf Finishes Third in Region, Advances Three to District Match

UNION CITY — The Union City girls golf team wrapped up its season Monday with a fourth-place finish at the Region 4 (AA) Girls Mega Match at Lucky Hills Golf Course, but the Bears finished third in the overall regional standings and will send three golfers on to the district match.

Union City finished Monday’s final mega match with a team score of 343. Allie Anderson led the Bears with a 107, followed by Brooke Erickson with a 109 and Kylie McGuire with a 127. JayAnne Keister also competed for Union City and shot 142.

Fort LeBoeuf won the final mega match with a 252, followed by Conneaut and Seneca, which each finished at 314. Union City was fourth with 343.

The final regional standings, based on all six matches, placed Fort LeBoeuf first with 36 points, Seneca second with 28 and Union City third with 22. Conneaut finished fourth with 21 points, followed by Franklin with 13 and Rocky Grove with six.

Despite a season marked by wet and muddy conditions, Union City coach Kim DeSimone said the Bears finished third overall in the region behind Fort LeBoeuf and Seneca.

Three Union City golfers will advance to the district match. Emma Frank led the team during the season with a 101 average, followed by Brooke Erickson at 109 and Allie Anderson at 113.

Monday’s match was the final mega match of the season. The event was hosted by Rocky Grove at Lucky Hills Golf Course.
