Union City, Corry Runners Post Strong Results at Rocket Invitational

TITUSVILLE – Union City turned in a 10th-place team finish in the boys race and an 18th-place finish in the girls competition at the Rocket Invitational in Titusville on Sept. 5.

The Union City boys scored 274 points in a field of 22 teams. Josh Mitcham paced the Bears, finishing seventh overall in 16:59. Zachary Myer placed 34th in 18:11, followed by Luke Himrod in 49th at 18:43 and Josiah Shrout in 59th at 19:09.

Brayden Weilacher finished 125th in 22:15, with Gavin Ahl 139th in 24:49 and Jayden Leonard 141st in 25:24.

Grove City won the boys team title with 56 points, while Clymer-Sherman-Panama finished third with 168 points. Fort LeBoeuf was seventh with 251 points, followed by Union City in 10th. Corry finished 16th with 384 points, while Titusville was 15th with 348 and Maplewood placed 20th with 494.

For Corry, Jeb Turner led the way with a 30th-place finish in 18:05. Bryce Chelton was 32nd in 18:08, Bradyn Chelton finished 72nd in 19:40, Owen Wintemute was 117th in 21:33 and Bredin Smith placed 133rd in 23:10.

Union City finished 18th in the girls team standings with 442 points.

Olivia Shrout led the Bears, placing 72nd overall in 25:31. Rian Moore finished 82nd in 27:20, Taylor Leonard was 86th in 27:38, Allie Anderson placed 94th in 28:59 and Kiley Kerr finished 108th in 32:09.

Cathedral Prep won the girls team competition with 40 points, followed by Grove City with 73 and Fort LeBoeuf with 107.

Fort LeBoeuf’s girls were led by Lexi Przybycien, who placed sixth overall in 19:47. The Bison finished third as a team.

Clymer-Sherman-Panama finished ninth, while Titusville was 17th. Maplewood and Corry did not have complete teams in the girls race.

The Rocket Invitational featured 218 runners in the boys race and 171 in the girls race.
