CORRY — Downtown Corry’s First Friday event will take on a medieval theme Friday, September 4, with activities planned throughout downtown from 5 to 9 p.m.
The event will include medieval-themed demonstrations, costumes, a sword demonstration, horse and carriage rides, live music and a photo opportunity with a medieval backdrop. Magic Steve is also expected to create balloon crowns and other items for children, while downtown businesses will remain open late.
Organizer Nancy Demauri, owner of Corry Connections, discussed the event during an interview with Channel 98.9’s Nigel Metal.
“We’re going to have a lot of medieval outfits,” Demauri said. “We’re also going to have a sword demonstration, people wandering around in outfits, and a photo op.”
A “Jail and Bail” fundraiser will also be held in front of the Salt Spa. Participants can pay $5 to swear out a warrant for another person, with the person’s consent required before an arrest. A sheriff and deputies will make the arrests during the event, with bail set at a minimum of $8. Bail proceeds will benefit Pink Racks, while warrant proceeds will support First Friday activities.
Demauri said the fundraiser is intended to add some fun to the evening while supporting a local cause.
“I think it’s a great cause, and I think we’ll have a lot of fun with it,” Demauri said during the Channel 98.9 interview.
Warrants can be obtained at participating downtown businesses and dropped off at Corry Connections or The White Butterfly before the event.
Music will include performances by Adam McKillop, Slim and Red, Karl and Mark, and Tate Linden. Food options are also planned, including Ploss’ Lunchbox, while Casey’s will offer a medieval-themed pickle on a stick.
Channel 98.9 will be on hand throughout the event with prize giveaways and activities.
