CANADOHTA LAKE — The Miss Canadohta Lake Pageant returned Sunday evening at the Frog Pond Restaurant on the beach, with periods of light rain unable to stop the annual event.
The pageant crowned four new queens for 2026: Jordyn Acevedo was named Princess, Madison Sullivan was crowned Little Miss, Melody Shafer was named Jr. Miss and Lilly Stevenson was crowned Miss Canadohta Lake.
The event featured 26 contestants across the four age divisions. The pageant had been on hiatus following the 2017 competition before organizers began bringing it back in 2024.
The pageant is organized by three former Canadohta Lake queens — Kayla Leskovic, Lindsey Canchola and Vanessa Nicols. The organizers said their goal is to give another generation of girls the opportunity to experience the pageant while continuing a tradition connected to the lake.
“We simply wanted to give another generation of girls the same experience, memories, love for pageantry, and love for Canadohta Lake that we were lucky enough to have growing up,” Canchola said.
Canchola said seeing the number of contestants participate made the work involved in organizing the event worthwhile.
“Seeing 26 beautiful contestants this year made every bit of work behind the scenes completely worth it,” she said.
The new queens will represent Canadohta Lake at parades, pageants and other community events during their reigns.
Sunny 105.7 Canadohta Lake’s Greatest Hits provided sound for the pageant. Organizers also thanked the Frog Pond Restaurant, judges and tabulators for their assistance. The event was sponsored by Nicols Collision Center and Pennie Insurance.
