Corry School Board Approves New Assistant Principal, Staff and Extracurricular Assignments

CORRY — The Corry Area School Board approved a new high school assistant principal, several new teachers and a wide range of staff assignments for the 2026-27 school year during its Aug. 24 meeting.

Andrew Kuzma was appointed high school assistant principal, effective Aug. 21. The board also approved Elizabeth Bille as a secondary math teacher, Kelsey Martin as a Pre-K Counts teacher and Jacqueline Willis as a long-term substitute middle school science teacher.

Other personnel appointments included Reaghan Pfeil as a Grade II special education paraprofessional, Nikki Hansen as a custodian and Pretecka Haskins as a Grade I cafeteria employee. The board also accepted the resignation of Austin Gillihan as assistant wrestling coach, effective for the 2026-27 school year.

The board approved grade-level coordinators and department heads for the coming school year.

Grade-level assignments include Rebecca Donovan as kindergarten coordinator, Lisa Weis as first-grade co-coordinator, Amy Hodak and Jacquelynn Hill as second-grade co-coordinators, Amy Sweet as third-grade coordinator, Jody Powell as fourth-grade coordinator and Shannon West as fifth-grade coordinator.

Department heads include Megan Simmonsen for Title I, Gary Johnston for Elementary Encore, Eric Brumagin for middle school science, Jim Coates for middle school social studies, Stacie Smith and Nicole Menjivar as middle school math co-department heads, and Mike Lesher and Tiffany DePaul as middle school ELA co-department heads.

At the high school level, Christel Jackman was named science department head, Mike Woods social studies department head, Tracie Braswell mathematics department head, Erica Thier English and foreign language department head, Kim Smrcka secondary Encore department head, Dawna Lyngarkos secondary special education department head, Travis Carey technology education department head and Julie McCray department head for career and technical studies, family and consumer science and business.

The board also approved numerous extracurricular assignments.

Monica Marsh and Sam Adamski were named senior class co-advisors, Stephanie Bennett junior class advisor, Victoria Rutkowski sophomore class advisor and Kim Smrcka freshman class advisor. Paula Carey was approved as yearbook advisor.

Alyssa Britten was appointed director of high school, middle school and elementary drama. Kim Smrcka will serve as high school drama assistant director and Elizabeth Muchesko as middle school drama assistant director.

Tristan McCray was appointed band ensemble director and auditorium coordinator, while Kim Smrcka was named choir ensemble director and Carley Gilson pep band director.

Other assignments include Mark Chludzinski as Lead and Seed advisor and SkillsUSA advisor; Ryan McBriar as high school newspaper editor; Mike Woods as media and marketing coordinator, with Jeff Goodwill and Kelly Mosher as assistant coordinators; and Paula Carey and Stacie Smith as high and middle school student council advisors.

Jennifer Dow was named National Honor Society advisor and Future Business Leaders of America advisor, Jana Steadman National Technical Honor Society advisor, Erica Thier academic team coordinator, Michael Soprano academic team assistant coordinator, Corey Gibson e-sports coordinator and Dustin LaRoe robotics advisor. Stephanie Bennett was approved as student mentor program advisor.

The board also approved mentors for numerous staff members and several non-athletic recreational positions, including Paula Carey as Senior Ambassadors Program advisor, Melissa Turben and Stephanie Donoghue as wellness co-coordinators and Abigail Davies as district chemical management officer.

The elementary and middle-high school Student Codes of Conduct for the 2026-27 school year were approved. The board also authorized creation of a Corry Area School District Career and Technical Center Facebook page in accordance with district policy.

Financial action included approval of checks, wire transfers and direct deposits totaling $1,165,325.91 for Aug. 1 through Aug. 19, along with the July business manager’s report.

The board also approved volunteers for the upcoming school year, including Hiram Daley for middle school track, Adam Brewer for middle school football and Rodney Skiff for boys basketball.
