Music, Motorsports, Midway and More: Warren County Fair Returns This Week

PITTSFIELD — From country music and carnival rides to livestock competitions, tractor pulls and agricultural exhibits, the Warren County Fair returns this week with eight days of activities celebrating the region’s farming heritage while offering entertainment for visitors of all ages.

The fair opens Sunday, Aug. 9, and continues through Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Warren County Fairgrounds in Pittsfield. While the annual event has grown to include nationally known entertainers, motorsports and family attractions, its mission remains rooted in agriculture and education. Operated by the nonprofit Warren County Fair, the event was established to showcase agricultural products, homemaking skills and agribusiness while promoting education and community development throughout Warren County.

Attractions Throughout the Week

While each day features its own schedule of activities, visitors will find many attractions available throughout the week.

One of Monday’s featured events is the Warren County Fair Queen Contest, held along with the Princess Program and Jr. Miss Contest. The program begins at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the KeyBank Pavilion.

The Penn Valley Shows midway will operate daily beginning Tuesday, offering mechanical rides for guests meeting the minimum height requirements. Visitors can also explore livestock barns, home and garden exhibits, commercial displays and educational demonstrations while watching 4-H members showcase the animals and projects they’ve worked on throughout the year.

Family entertainment is scheduled throughout the week, including multiple daily performances by Wild World of Animals and Puppy Pals Live. Children’s Story Hour, Discovery Center activities, Fair Queen meet-and-greets and a variety of agricultural demonstrations will also be offered on several days.

Agriculture remains the centerpiece of the fair, with livestock judging, horse shows, dairy competitions, sheep, goat, rabbit and beef exhibitions, horse pulls, oxen demonstrations and the annual livestock sale showcasing the work of local youth and producers. Demonstrations, educational presentations and agricultural competitions continue throughout the week.

Music and Entertainment

Several live musical performances headline this year’s entertainment lineup.

The fair begins Sunday evening with a performance by Denny and the Misfits following the Warren County Vesper Service.

Country music fans can see Billy Dean perform Tuesday evening at the KeyBank Pavilion. Dean, known for hits including Somewhere in My Broken Heart, Billy the Kid and We Just Disagree, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. The concert is included with paid gate admission.

Wednesday night’s featured entertainment is “1964”…The Tribute, a nationally recognized Beatles tribute band performing at 7:30 p.m. at the KeyBank Pavilion.

The entertainment schedule concludes Saturday evening with Crush: The Bon Jovi Concert Experience, beginning at 5 p.m. at the KeyBank Pavilion. The performance is also included with paid gate admission.

Motorsports and Grandstand Events

Motorsports and arena events remain among the fair’s biggest draws.

Monday evening features the annual Monday Night Chute-Out Rodeo, presented by Bull Ride Mania. The rodeo requires separate admission and begins at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday brings the Keystone Mini Rod Tractor Pullers and Dirt Diggers Garden Tractor Pulling competition to the Motorsports Arena.

Wednesday’s featured motorsports event is the Antique Tractor Pull, followed Thursday by the Farm Stock Tractor Dead Boat Pull.

Friday evening concludes with the Modified Truck and Tractor Pull, another separately ticketed event in the Motorsports Arena.

On Saturday, firefighters compete in the annual Firemen’s Competition, while the evening wraps up with Stock Car Football followed by the fair’s annual fireworks display.

Agriculture Remains at the Heart of the Fair

Although entertainment has expanded over the years, agriculture continues to define the Warren County Fair.

Throughout the week, visitors can watch judging of sheep, dairy cattle, beef cattle, goats, rabbits, horses and oxen, while 4-H members demonstrate the results of months of preparation. Horse clinics, horse pulls, oxen events, the Celebrity Milking Contest, Barnyard Olympics and numerous educational presentations offer visitors a closer look at modern agriculture and rural traditions.

The annual Warren County Fair Livestock Sale on Friday evening remains one of the week’s signature agricultural events, highlighting the accomplishments of local youth exhibitors.

Advance gate admission is available for $10 through Monday of fair week, while admission at the gate is $15. A Family Five Pack is also available for $45 through Monday, providing admission for five guests ages 2 and older.

Admission includes free parking, most entertainment at the KeyBank Pavilion, daily attractions across the fairgrounds, unlimited midway rides for guests meeting height requirements, and most Motorsports Arena events. Separate admission is required for Monday night’s Chute-Out Rodeo and Friday’s Modified Truck and Tractor Pull. Children younger than 2 are admitted free, with a midway ride upgrade available for those meeting ride height requirements.

As another fair season begins, organizers hope to continue a tradition that has brought families together for generations. Whether visitors come for the livestock shows, midway, live music, motorsports or simply the opportunity to spend a summer day at the fair, the Warren County Fair once again offers a full week of activities celebrating agriculture, community and family traditions.
