YOUNGSVILLE — Police are searching for two men who fled on foot after a traffic stop Saturday night that led officers to determine all five occupants of a vehicle were unlawfully present in the United States.
According to the Youngsville Borough Police Department, an officer stopped an Ohio-registered vehicle for an equipment violation on State Route 6 at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25.
During the investigation, police determined that all five occupants were unlawfully present in the United States. Pennsylvania State Police from Warren responded to assist, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection requested the individuals be taken into custody.
Police said three individuals were taken into custody without incident and later transferred to the custody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Two other individuals fled on foot before they could be detained.
The department said there is no information indicating the two men pose a threat to the public. Police believe they fled in an attempt to avoid arrest.
Authorities are seeking warrants for:
- Hector Orlando Ramos Santos, described as a white Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, 21 years old.
- Nehemias Josue Chavez Reyes, described as a white Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, 32 years old.
Police believe the two men have no ties to the Youngsville area and were traveling along Route 6 from Columbus, Ohio, to another destination.
Residents are encouraged to secure their homes, vehicles and other property as a precaution. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the two suspects is asked to contact the Youngsville Borough Police Department. Police advise the public not to approach the individuals but to notify law enforcement immediately.
Youngsville police were assisted by Pennsylvania State Police-Warren, Conewango Township Police, the City of Warren Police Department and Hillview Auto.
