ERIE — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is accepting applications for seasonal positions as it prepares for the 2026-27 winter maintenance season.
PennDOT District 1, which serves Crawford, Erie, Forest, Mercer, Venango and Warren counties, is hiring for several positions that run from September through April.
Openings include Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) equipment operators, mechanics, clerical dispatchers, semi-skilled laborers and tradesman helpers.
PennDOT says the seasonal positions offer an opportunity for those seeking winter employment or individuals interested in gaining experience that could lead to future permanent employment. Hiring will be based on operational needs, and available positions may vary by county.
Some jobs require specific licenses or prior experience. Details about qualifications and applications are available through the Commonwealth’s employment website.
Applications are currently being accepted for the upcoming winter season.
