HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will host a statewide Fish for Free Day on Saturday, July 4, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to fish without purchasing a fishing license.
From 12:01 a.m. through 11:59 p.m., anyone may fish on Pennsylvania waterways without a fishing license. While the license requirement is waived for the day, all other fishing regulations, including seasons, size limits and daily creel limits, remain in effect.
The annual Fish for Free Day is intended to encourage people of all ages to experience fishing and enjoy Pennsylvania’s lakes, rivers and streams. The commission says the event is also an opportunity for experienced anglers to introduce family members and friends to the sport.
Both Pennsylvania residents and non-residents are eligible to participate.
Additional information about fishing regulations, seasons and fishing opportunities is available through the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
