The Summer Reading Celebration will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at the library, located at 160 East Front Street in Erie. The event is designed to encourage reading and learning throughout the summer months while offering families a variety of free activities and educational opportunities.

Attendees can enjoy carnival-style yard games, interactive exhibits, and living history displays focused on America’s founding stories. Visitors will also have the opportunity to receive free books courtesy of Werner Books.

Food and refreshments will be available, including treats from Alsies and Kona Ice.

A historic Erie Insurance fire truck will be on display, and representatives from Erie’s Public Schools will be available to share recommended summer reading selections. School officials will also assist eligible students in obtaining free library cards.

Transportation to the event will be provided by Erie’s Public Schools.

Library officials say the annual celebration serves as the official kickoff to summer reading activities across Erie County and encourages readers of all ages to participate in programs designed to keep learning active during the summer break.

The event is free and open to the public.
