According to the Union City Police Department, Country Fair reported on March 16 that a fake $100 bill had been accepted by a night-shift employee during a transaction that occurred shortly after midnight on March 15.

Police said the counterfeit bill was marked “FOR MOTION PICTURES PURPOSES” and was allegedly used by a woman who received cash back as part of the transaction.

Investigators reviewed evidence and later identified the suspect as 43-year-old Sara Wright of Union City.

Authorities said felony charges of fraud and theft were filed, and an arrest warrant was subsequently issued. Wright was taken into custody on June 3 and arraigned before District Judge Denise Buell.

Following arraignment, Wright was released on unsecured bond. She is scheduled to appear at a future preliminary hearing in the case.
