Communities across northwest Pennsylvania will hold Memorial Day ceremonies and parades throughout the holiday weekend to honor military members who died in service to the country.
Sunday, May 24
- Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home — Memorial Day ceremony at 1 p.m. at the gazebo.
- Edinboro — Community Memorial Service from 7 to 8 p.m. at Edinboro Cemetery featuring a concert band performance and guest speaker.
Monday, May 25
- Union City — Combined Memorial Day service hosted by American Legion LeBaron Post 237 and VFW John Krol Post 6773 begins at 9 a.m. at the war memorial at West High Street and First Avenue. Parade units will then travel to St. Teresa Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery for additional ceremonies.
- North East — American Legion Post 105 service begins at 9:45 a.m. at Gibson Park, followed by a parade and ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery.
- Waterford — Memorial Day parade and ceremony begin at 10 a.m. starting on Cherry Street with stops at Waterford Cemetery, the Gazebo, and Memorial Cemetery.
- Meadville — Memorial Day parade lineup will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. along Water Street. The parade starts at 10 a.m. with an observance ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m.
- Corry — VFW Post 264 and American Legion Post 365 will hold a combined Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. at the pavilion at 1151 Mead Avenue. A luncheon will follow.
- Girard — American Legion Post 494 will host a wreath-laying ceremony at 1 p.m. followed by a parade at 2 p.m.
- Erie — Veterans Memorial Park ceremony at State Street and Glenwood Park Avenue begins at 2 p.m. and will include the National Anthem, bagpipes, a color guard, and rifle volleys.
- Lawrence Park — Memorial Day ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. at the municipal building.
