The Corry Area School District Board of Directors approved the district’s proposed final budget for the 2026-27 school year and filled numerous athletic and summer program positions during its regular meeting May 18.
Board members approved financial transactions totaling more than $1.29 million from April 24 through May 13, along with the district’s April business manager’s report.
Directors also approved the proposed final budget for the upcoming school year, though additional budget details were not included in the summary of action released following the meeting.
Several agreements were authorized as part of the evening’s business, including intergovernmental cooperation agreements involving the Erie County Land Bank, Concord Township, Elgin Borough, Wayne Township and the school district. The board also approved an alternative education agreement with Perseus House and a virtual academy services agreement with the Warren County School District for the 2026-27 school year.
The board approved updates and revisions to several district policies, including policies related to charter schools, dress and grooming, threat assessment, district audits and transportation.
Joel Cook was elected school board treasurer for a one-year term beginning July 1 at an annual salary of $1,800.
The board also formally approved the proposed graduating Class of 2026, contingent upon each senior successfully completing all graduation requirements.
In personnel matters, the board accepted the resignations of three teachers: health and physical education teacher Calan Vance, middle school English language arts teacher Amber Brunco and middle school math teacher Maria Rose. Several coaching resignations were also approved ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
Board members approved staffing appointments for the district’s summer programs, including elementary instruction, extended school year special education services and driver’s education.
A lengthy list of athletic supplemental positions for the upcoming fall and winter sports seasons was also approved. Among the appointments were Jeff Goodwill as head football coach, Kelly Goodsel as head volleyball coach, Ryan Mumau as head girls basketball coach, Travis Proper as head wrestling coach and Darci Hatley as head girls wrestling coach.
Additional coaching, band, cheerleading and facilities coordinator positions were also filled for the 2026-27 school year.
The board additionally approved a real estate tax exemption request for Jared S. Malczewski through the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
