Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday in Freehold Township, Warren County.
According to a statement released by state police, troopers were attempting to serve a felony warrant on an individual at a residence in Freehold Township when the incident occurred. Police said the suspect pointed a rifle at troopers, who then fired, striking the individual. The suspect died at the scene. No troopers were injured.
State police did not release the name of the suspect or the exact location of the incident. However, reports from area residents indicated a large police presence Saturday in the area of Route 958 near Irvine’s Garage in Freehold Township.
The investigation remains ongoing.
