Scott Mondy has been hired as the next elementary principal and will officially begin July 1. He will replace Dr. Tomcho, who is retiring June 30 after a long career with the district.

Superintendent Matthew Bennett said Mondy is joining the district following approval at the most recent board meeting, with the transition set for the start of July.

Mondy brings a background that includes classroom teaching at the elementary level in multiple districts since beginning his education career in 2007 in West Palm Beach, Florida. His experience also includes time in athletic and organizational leadership, including work with the Erie BayHawks organization in the NBA G League.

Most recently, Mondy served as a fifth-grade teacher at Conneaut Lake Elementary and also coached boys basketball at Conneaut Area Senior High School.

He and his family live in the region. His wife, Melissa, is also an educator, and they have two children.

The district plans to release additional information about Mondy in the coming weeks and will announce opportunities for students, staff, and families to meet him ahead of the new school year.
