
Jake Banta has announced his bid for re-election in the May 19 primary. Banta is seeking his third two-year term as a state representative for the 4th Legislative District in the House of Representatives. Banta, a Republican, was first elected in November 2022 and took office in January 2023.
Banta, 60, is a graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School. He served in the military as a US Navy Seal. He also has done security work for the United States Department of Defense. He and his wife, Shelly, live in LeBoeuf Township. They have three sons, one grandson and one granddaughter.
“I really enjoy the opportunity to serve the people,” Banta said. “This is exciting work for me and I am honored to do the job.”
For the 2025-26 Legislative Session, Banta was appointed to serve on the following standing House committees: Games and Fisheries, Local Government, State Government, Tourism and Economic and Recreation Development, Veterans’ Affairs and Emergency Preparedness.
The 4th Legislative District includes portions of Erie County and consists of the City of Corry; the townships of Amity, Concord, Franklin, Girard, Greenfield, LeBoeuf, McKean, North East, Union, Venango, Washington and Waterford; and the boroughs of Edinboro, Elgin, Girard, Lake City, McKean, Mill Village, North East, Platea, Union City, Waterford and Wattsburg.
Banta has offices in Girard, Waterford and North East and holds Wednesday hours in Edinboro and Corry.
