The Corry Area School District Board of Directors approved a wide range of financial, facilities, policy, and personnel items during its regular meeting February 23.
Among the major actions, the board approved a resolution for a Public School Facility Improvement Grant to replace the boiler and automation controls system at Corry Area Primary School. The project carries an estimated cost of $1,899,000.
Directors also approved advertising for bids for new cafeteria serving lines at the Middle-High School, to be funded through the district’s Cafeteria Fund.
Financial approvals included checks, wire transfers, and direct deposits totaling $3,160,927.86 for the period of January 22 through February 18, along with the January 2026 Business Manager’s Report.
The board adopted the 2026-27 school calendar and approved dual credit and dual enrollment agreements with Erie County Community College and Northern Pennsylvania Regional College for the upcoming school year.
Several student field trips were approved, including SkillsUSA students traveling to Hershey in April, art and Spanish club visits to the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the senior class picnic at Peek’n Peak in June.
Board members also approved the sale of a property on Eagle Street through the Erie County Tax Claim Bureau for $250.
A comprehensive slate of policy updates was adopted, including revisions addressing academic standards, athletics, attendance, emergency preparedness, school security, social media, conflict of interest, and the use of generative artificial intelligence in education.
In personnel matters, the board accepted multiple resignations and a retirement, including Secondary Special Education Teacher Olivia Wojcicehowski and Custodian Gary Fitzpatrick. The resignation of Head Boys Basketball Coach Tyler Bailey was approved effective for the 2026-27 school year.
The board appointed Sarah Rodriguez as a Secondary Special Education Teacher at a prorated salary of $66,821 and approved several supplemental coaching and tutoring positions.
