Bears Get First Playoff Win Since 2019; Season Ends for Fort Leboeuf and Maplewood

The Union City Bears boys basketball team traveled to General McLane High School on Tuesday night as they took on the Wilmington Greyhounds in the First Round of the District 10 2A Boys Basketball Playoffs.

The Greyhounds would have a small lead the first couple minutes of the game but the Bears would take the lead and it would be all Union City from that point on.

The Bears were hot in this one, as they were draining their shots and getting rebounds as they scored at least twenty points in all four quarters.

The Bears would go on to win the game 88-65 to earn their first playoff win since 2019 and improve to 8-13 on the season, the loss drops the Greyhounds to 7-16 ending their season.

The Bears will be back in action on Friday night as they take on the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers in the District 10 2A Quarterfinals. Opening tip is scheduled for 6pm at Mercyhurst University.

In other action, Fort LeBoeuf’s season came to an end Tuesday night with a 57 to 45 loss to Harborcreek at the Hagerty Family Events Center in Erie. Maplewood was also knocked out in the first round, falling to Sharpsville 47 to 34 at Sharon High School.
