The Union City Bears boys basketball team was back home in the Bears Den on Tuesday night as they played host to the Erie Prep Academy Yeti’s in another region game.
The first quarter would go back-and-forth as both teams would trade the lead. The Yeti’s would hit a shot at the end of the quarter to go up 11-9 after one.
The second quarter was much of the same as the Yeti’s would outscore the Bears 14-13 to go into the half leading 25-22.
The Bears would make adjustments and come out strong in the second half as they would outscore the Yeti’s 18-8 in the third quarter to take a 40-33 lead into the fourth.
The Yeti’s would come back to tie the score in the late minutes of the fourth quarter, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Bears would hold on to defeat the Yeti’s 50-44 ending their three-game losing streak. The win improves the Bears to 7-10 (2-3) on the season, while the Yeti’s fall to 4-7 (0-6).
The Bears will return to action on Friday night as they travel to Eisenhower to take on the Knights in another region game.
