The City of Corry is asking residents and businesses to conserve water following Wednesday’s fire at the Hensa Stamping facility on Pennsylvania Avenue, citing the large volume of water used during firefighting operations. City officials say conservation efforts are necessary to help replenish the municipal water supply after crews battled the blaze for several hours.

According to the City, Corry’s water remains safe to use, but customers may notice low water pressure and temporary discoloration. Officials say the discoloration may range from orange to brown or even purple in color and is a result of changes in water flow during and after the emergency response.

In addition to the conservation request, Pennsylvania Avenue remains closed to traffic as a result of damage and ongoing work in the area. The closure will remain in place for an undetermined amount of time, and motorists are being asked to use alternate routes until further notice.

City officials say updates will be provided as more information becomes available and thanked residents for their cooperation and understanding as the community continues to respond to the aftermath of the fire.
