The Erie Otters’ three-game weekend continued Friday night with a road matchup against the Sarnia Sting, but Erie was unable to keep pace in a 9-1 loss at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Tyler Cooper scored first for the Otters midway through the opening period, but Sarnia responded quickly and took control of the game. The Sting scored five times in the second period, including a hat trick from Jack Van Volsen, to build a commanding lead.
Sarnia added three more goals in the third period and outshot Erie 47-20 on the night.
The Otters wrap up their three-in-three weekend Saturday afternoon in London against the Knights before returning home on January 16 to host the Windsor Spitfires.
