The Union City Lady Bears Basketball team was back in action on Thursday night as they traveled to Iroquois to take on the Lady Braves in a region game.
On a night where the Lady Bears lineup returned to full strength with the return of Brooke VanTassel, the Bears would get off to a quick start and never look back.
VanTassel would immediately make her presence known as she would score the first three points of the contest and it would be all Union City from that point on.
The Lady Bears would pull out to a 21-0 lead before the Braves finally got on the scoreboard late in the first quarter. The Bears would end up outscoring the Braves 23-4 in the first.
The second quarter would be much of the same as the Lady Bears dominated the young Braves on offense and defense, outscoring Iroquois 17-3 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 40-7 lead.
The second half would be much like the first as the Lady Bears continued their dominant performance outscoring the Braves 20-4 in the last two quarters to win the game 60-11. The win improves the Lady Bears to 1-3 (1-1) on the season, while the Braves fall to 0-2 (0-1).
The Lady Bears will be back in action on Monday night in the Bears Den for their home opener as they host the Northwestern Lady Wildcats in another region game.
